Best Gulf Coast Beaches To Visit

Living in the Midwest this is the time of year that we all start to think about Spring Break and where we want to go to get away. I know the first thing that comes to my mind is sitting on the beach with a cool drink in hand! I have had the chance to spend some time on Florida’s Gulf Coast and can say they have some of the most beautiful beaches hands down. Here is a list of my top 5 Gulf coast Beaches and why.

Gulf Island National Seashore- Pensacola Florida

A stretch of beaches untouched by commercialism. If you are looking for a true beach experience without busy beaches and souveniers this is the beach for you. The drive here alone is breathtaking as you are surrounded by water and white sand dunes. This is truly a piece of paradise. Great for snorkeling, shore line fishing or just soaking up the beauty around you. Kids will love climbing the white sand dunes. Absolutely my favorite beach!

Clearwater Beach, Florida

Clearwater Beach is a beautiful beach with a great pier. Sugary white sand and some of the best sea shells. Going out in the morning and watching the sun rise and finding shells is the best! Clearwater also has a really great aquarium. You will find plenty of beach front hotels and condos. Definitely a great place to get away!

Siesta Key, Florida

Siesta Key has been rated as the #2 beach in the country. This is a beautiful beach. It is just more commercialized than what I like. There are lots of beach front bars and night social life. Make sure you visit Big Water Fish Market. This is a very casual diner. It also has some of the best fresh seafood around! You can take it out and prepare it yourself or have them prepare it there for you to take home. You can also eat there in their dining area. You won’t be disappointed!

Pass – A – Grill Beach, St. Petersburg Florida

If you are searching for pristine white sand beaches and visiting quaint shops then Pass A Grill may be for you. They have unique Inns that you will be sure to relax in. There is great fishing and dolphins swimming off shore. The most extraordinary feature is Shell Key. This is one of the country’s largest undeveloped barrier islands. You can camp, boat and enjoy many of the beach activities. This is definitely off the beaten path.

Destin Beach, Florida

Destin is located in Florida’s Panhandle on Florida’s emerald coast. Destin is also known as the ‘worlds luckiest fishing village’, along with its world class resorts. Where ever you stay you are in walking distance of some of the best shopping and dining everywhere. The Village of Baytown Wharf is close and is a great place to visit. It has local shops and fine dining. The only downside is it can be a bit pricey and they do add an resort up charge.
